"CLUENO" is my PRIVATE nickname for the Cluedo Card Game (2003), a spinoff from the original Hasbro board game. I call it "Clueno" for convenient conversational differentiating from Cluedo, the board game; and also because it rhymes with "Uno", another card game. The objective of Clueno is similar to that of Cluedo. But this time, the murderer escaped, so we are to identify the vehicle and destination the murderer is heading for. Instead of dice and a board, ACTION CARDS determine the course of play. 6 SUSPECTS: Miss Scarlet, Colonel Mustard, Mrs White, Reverend Green, Mrs Peacock, Professor Plum 6 VEHICLES: Airliner, Car, Train, Hot Air Balloon, Limousine, Seaplane 9 DESTINATIONS: York Minster (NE), Loch Ness (NE), Blackpool Tower (NW), Alton Towers (NW), Giant's Causeway (NW), Leeds Castle (SE), Natural History Museum (SE), Stonehenge (SW), Caernarfon Castle (SW) ACTION CARDS 1. Make a SUGGESTION from Current Destination OR Move to another destination Either make a suggestion containing the destination marker in front of you (eg. Professor Plum, Car, Loch Ness) OR exchange your destination marker for another one, without making any suggestion. 2. Make a SUGGESTION from Any DestinationExchange your current destination marker for another one, and wait for your NEXT turn to make a suggestion. 3. SNOOP on any player's hand The player you choose to "snoop" on fans out their cards face down, and you pick one to view privately, and return it to the player. Note: This involves an element of risk, as you may end up picking a card that you have previously viewed, and waste the snoop. 4. ALL SNOOP to the player on right/left All players will snoop the player on the direction as indicated on the snoop card. 5. SUPER SLEUTH All other players MUST show, privately to you, IF they have it, a card of the description required. Note: Read the card CAREFULLY so as to not accidentally show the wrong kind of card. The suspects are divided into Male/Female, the vehicles according to color and flying/ground, the destinations according to direction. 6. PRIVATE TIP This card is shown privately to another player of your choice, and that player MUST privately show you a card of that description, IF they have it. As in Super Sleuth, please read the card carefully so as to not accidentally show the wrong card. PREPARATIONS One of each kind of card is put aside as the "Solution" (3 cards in all), while the remaining 18 are shuffled and dealt to all players. Depending on the number of players, some would have more than others, but all the 18 cards MUST be dealt out. The dealer also gives each player ONE Action Card, one destination marker (small card), and one Detective Notes. GAMEPLAY At the start of their turn, the player draws one Action card from the drawpile and decides whether to use the one they just drew, or the one already in their hand. Unlike in Cluedo, you may or may not get to make a suggestion on every turn. Instead, just follow the instructions on each Action card, and that constitutes your turn. SUGGESTIONS [Similar to Cluedo, the board game] When a player gets to make a suggestion, the player on their immediate left has to try to contradict the suggestion by privately showing one of the three cards, to the player making the suggestion. If they do not have any, the chance to contradict would go to the next player on the left, and so on. It is important that the chance to contradict goes in an orderly manner from player to player, so that no 2 or 3 players shout in unison that they have a card. If it is a player's turn to show a card, and they have 2 or more of the cards named in a suggestion, they show ONLY one, and may choose which they wish to show. If a player is discovered to have withheld cards unintentionally or otherwise, they will be out of the game. ACCUSATIONS [Similar to Cluedo, the board game] When a player is convinced that they know the Murderer, Vehicle and Destination, they may accuse by writing down clearly (or circling on their Detective Notes), then checking the solution privately. If they are correct, they win the game. If they are wrong, they put back the solution, and are out of the game. They have no further turns in the game, and only remain to contradict other player's suggestions. Note: A player may only make one accusation in the game.
